I was talking to my brother about my hot water bottle (Fredal) the other night. You see, I'd named my hot water bottle after Alfred - yes, the green hot water bottle in Johnson & Friends.
Which got me thinking about whether anyone might have posted old TV shows up on YouTube... so I looked just now.
As it turns out... you can watch the Johnson & Friends intro on YouTube and apparently they've got Season 1 of Johnson & Friends on DVD these days too..
But that's not all... while I was at it, I manage to locate the Gumby theme as well..
Come to think of it... Gumby actually had a plot and taught kids values.. which is more than what I can say for some of the shows these days.. -.-
Anyway... that's my two cents for the day.
Okay.. so this is slightly delayed... but *looks at her watch* Jen should be in Japan by now, or almost there... and Rachel will be joining you in Japan soon too... how exciting. =)
Hope that you've had a safe flight, Jen.. the last I checked, you were in Singapore.
Thanks for a great night on Saturday (Mags hasn't stayed up that late in ages. LOL... you gave me my life back... if only for a night...)
Have yourself a great time in Yokohama, take many many photos in true Jen-style... and we'll see you when you get back!
Love,
Mags
P.S Here's a photo for you!!!
My dear friends,
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR COMING LAST NIGHT!!!! Without you, it wouldn't have been as memorable a night as it was. I said it last night, and I'll say it again now... each and every one of you mean so much to me and I'm so glad that you were there to share it with me.
For those who were unable to come, I know that you were there in spirit to celebrate with me.. so thanks to you all as well. =)
Here are some of the photos from last night... if you have any that haven't been uploaded online.. please send them to me.
Once again, thanks for being there to celebrate with me... thanks for the wonderful speeches, messages and gifts..
I love you guys!!
Mags
Dear You,
You're probably wondering why I'm blogging about shoes.. and to be honest, it's a bit of a story.. but all based on what I did last week. Right.. so now you're thinking, "well, what did she do last week?"
The answer to that, would be: "a lot of shopping" - esp if my bank balance is anything to go by. I ended up buying 5 - yes.. count them.. 5 whopping pairs of shoes just between Thursday and Saturday last week. In fact, I was so taken by one particular pair that I even ended up creating a banner for my Vox with them (see above). =P
In other news.. work has decided to send me out to do a couple of training courses. One on interview skills (provider, date and venue yet to be confirmed)... and as of this Saturday (10th Feb) I'm also going to start doing what's called Certificate IV Training & Assessment (TAA40104).
To explain it simply.. it's a vocational qualification that trains me up so that I can get involved in the Training & Development side of HR... so actually delivering/facilitating training, assessing training needs, designing training programs, creating the right culture and environment to promote learning & development, etc..
Expected completion date is 15 Saturdays away... apparently 30th June (if we take into account public holidays and the like). So if I start whinging about assessments, you'll understand why.
Anyway.. it's rather late now, and I have a full day of interviews tomorrow, so I'd best leave it here. Keep me in the loop with social activities.. I may not have much time... but I'll try to find some for you, I promise. ;)
Dear You,
Wishing you had all been there to share in the fun.
Had a family day yesterday.. and went to this beach...
We had a picnic at the park that's connected to it, then headed down to beach for a bit to cool down. Ended up spending maybe an hour or two on the beach - and resultantly have a VERY SUNBURNT back and neck. (Note to self: remember to apply more sunscreen to neck and back when in scorching Australian heat at the beach.)
Now I can't sit at work during the day without the tags on my clothes irriating the sunburnt areas. Ouch.
We should do a day trip down there someday - anyone interested?
Dear You,
I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that I’ve disappeared off the face of the earth. I may as well have become invisible for the past month. Becoming a “摺抬” was not exactly part of the plan - but that’s life for you.. tho thankfully, I’m not as bad as 阿富. In the event that you think I’ve been watching too much TV, you’d probably be right.
“Going out” in the past month for me has really just consisted of farewells or birthday celebrations… mid-December we organised dinner at Ju Ju in Kings Cross. While the food was only average.. I was quite taken by the interior.. despite some completely RANDOM furnishings. Had good fun catching up with the girls that night tho. =)
And after Candice
started working with me, I found myself getting in touch with other “old girls”
(teehee). Went out for dinner to celebrate Candi’s “impromptu” birthday because
in the panic of exams, there was no real celebration for her 21st.
We went to that hidden little restaurant on York St, underneath the small bridal shop
opposite the QVB… Nazimi. The food there was better than expected, to be
completely honest. Although, admittedly, I wasn’t that hungry since we’d had a
HUGE X’mas lunch for work earlier that day *still drooling over that HONEYDEW
sorbet*.
X’mas Day & Boxing Day, I did road trips to Wollongong and Wiseman’s Ferry with the family.. which was interesting. Nature inspired trips combined with a LOT of driving. But at least I was out and about.. which is DEFINITELY the best way to spend X’mas. =)
Just a few days after X’mas, there was a small “Class of 03” get-together at the newly renovated Pancakes at the Rocks. It really doesn’t look that different.. I was quite disappointed to be honest. But it was great seeing all the girls again. The whole Bio crew was there and while it was primarily the Campbell Quad groups that attended, it was great seeing some old faces again - and particularly good seeing CK again.
It’s funny to think that while we’ve all aged (well.. duh!) and grown up in certain ways.. there are still so many things about us that fundamentally remain the same. It was refreshing to hang out with all these personalities that I knew so well during high school and just find out what was happening in there lives. Haha.. I’m ashamed to say that I’m terrible at keeping in touch. =P
The day after, I thought to make the most of my annual leave and decided to meet up and chill out with Rach, Lou and Candi again.. this time I had a craving for Korean - and since no one was against it, we ended up at Café C’ya. ON THE LOUNGE SEATS THIS TIME!!! *bops up and down in an excited fashion*. Boy, that soup was yummy.. although the seafood wasn’t that fantastic - next time, I’m just having Kimchi soup, dude. =P We then wound up at Passionflower later that evening where we managed to finish 9 scoops of ice-cream between the four of us. LOL
My parents decided last minute that they wanted to take a road trip down to Victoria… so we did, after I madly called around trying for accommodation for a whole day. Anyway.. we did a 4-day whirlwind trip of Melbourne, Geelong, Ballart, 12 Apostles, Phillip Island, Great Ocean Drive, some of the Mornington Penisula and also part of the Gippsland region.
And so that’s where I spent NYE and also the first few days of the new year. As a random aside, we also drove past Wangaratta on the way down - although there was no chance to stop by the Beechworth Bakery (although I finally know where Beechworth is now).. as recommended by Elz.
Given the number of times that I’ve mentioned food in this post, you can imagine that I like to eat.. and eat I did during the X’mas break.. which was why when I got back from the road trip to Victoria, I figured that it was time to join the gym. =P So I did… and I’m proud to say that at this stage (my 3rd week)… motivation is still going strong and I’m going at least twice a week to get some exercise done. Gym buddies would help, but I feel pretty determined this time, so we’ll see how it goes.
And that’s partially why I’ve been sorta MIA lately - working 9 to 5 (ewww.. I’m a pleb!) means leaving the house at 8 (or shortly thereafter) and not getting back till 6 at the earliest. Spend an hour and a half working out and by the time you’ve showered, changed and get home, it’s almost 9. Scoff down dinner, watch some TV and then it’s time to crawl into bed (by 10, cos you’re exhausted). My life at the moment in a nutshell.
